Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you like my creative title? We had a very low-key* Valentine's day this year. Homemade cards (cut out hearts with scribbled drawings and glued on googly eyes--all one of a kind), Girl Scout cookies, heart shaped ice cubes,** chicken curry for dinner, and my awesome little family.*** No fancy cookies, crafty crayons, or special paintings this year. I'm okay with that.
My ice cubes fizzing in my drink...
We really had a lovely day. It was really, truly, wonderful.

I hope you and your loved ones had a fabulous valentine's day too! Did you do anything super extraordinary? Did you participate in One Billion Rising or another V-Day event? I've been watching videos of my friends from home dancing in flash mobs all over town. It's awesome and inspiring. I'm already looking forward to a more active February 14th with both my girls next year...

* Feel free to interpret that as half-assed on my part. V-day really snuck up on me this year.

** Heart shaped ice cubes are my new favorite things. They make any drink exciting. They cheer me up. I got the idea from Pinterest of course. I saw a pin for ice cube hearts made out of milk dyed pink (I have no idea who to give credit for the idea). Super cute in a milk cup at breakfast, right? Well, I was too lazy to dye the milk. I used cranberry-pomegranate juice that was already pink and it tastes lovely in lemonade or soda water!

**I should have known the recipe title "Curry in a Hurry" was misleading when the next line told me to cook it in the crock-pot for six hours. I believed them when they said it was a "quick prep" recipe. Sorry friends, one hour and fifteen minutes of mincing and dicing is not my idea of quick prep. At least it was tasty...and we have a lot of it. I'll save the time I spent today by not fixing dinner tomorrow...
